Product details

Part 104266 is the fastener that anchors the handle tube to the body on ProTeam's ProForce uprights, and the same screw is also listed for a set of Electrolux and Sanitaire commercial machines. It looks like a minor piece of hardware, but it is what separates a solid-feeling handle from a wobbly one.

Regular servicing loosens these screws over time, the threads themselves can strip, or the screw can simply disappear once the housing has been opened a few times. Any looseness in the handle transfers straight into the plastic boss it screws into, and given enough time under that load, the boss eventually cracks. At that point the fix stops being a screw and turns into a housing repair, which makes catching this early worthwhile.

This fastener is sized to the original mount, which is why the correct part holds the joint properly tight where a near-enough hardware-store screw tends to work loose or chew up the boss it threads into.

When threading a new screw into a boss that already shows some wear, turn it by hand rather than reaching for a power driver until it starts to bite. Over-tightening into a marginal boss is what finishes a crack that a loose screw only began. If the boss has already split, the screw on its own will not solve anything and the housing needs attention first.
