MD PVC Plaster Guard for Ce...

Product details
A plaster guard covers a central vacuum backing plate while the wall around it is being finished, so compound, texture and paint stay off the plate opening and off the low-voltage wire landed behind it. It also shows the finishing crew where an opening belongs, which they would otherwise have to work out for themselves. Part 519 is packed two guards to a pack.
MD publishes three fit details worth reading before one goes on. The guard is round and the mount behind it is square, so it shields about 90 percent of the mount and the corners stay open. A back mount made of plastic takes longer screws than a metal one. An installer buying in volume orders a full case by entering a quantity of 125.
Timing is the other thing to plan for. The guard belongs on the plate at framing and rough wiring, not after board is hung, and it comes back off once finishing is done and before the inlet valve is mounted.
