The SFD20, SKU 7252100, is Miele's flexible crevice tool, and the flexible body is what separates it from a rigid crevice nozzle. Where a straight tool has to line up with a gap head-on, a flexible one bends around obstacles to follow a baseboard, door track or appliance edge that curves or turns a corner.
Length is the other half of the story. At 560 mm, roughly 22 inches, it reaches well past what a standard crevice tool can cover, which is what makes it the tool for the gap behind a refrigerator or down the back of a radiator without moving the appliance first.
A flexible tool's failure point is usually the bend itself. Repeated flexing over time can crack or split the body where it bends the most, which shows up as reduced suction at the tip even though the canister motor sounds normal. Once that happens the tool is pulling in air through the crack instead of through the nozzle end.
