The SMD10, SKU 7252280, is Miele's mattress tool, a wide, low-profile nozzle sized to cover a mattress seam or an upholstered cushion in fewer strokes than a narrow crevice tool would need. The flat shape also lets it slide into the gap between a mattress and a bed frame, or down into a sofa cushion, without lifting the furniture to reach in.

A wide flat nozzle like this wears mainly at the edge that rides along fabric: the opening's rim can crack or the connector at the wand end can loosen with repeated use, and once the connector is loose, air leaks in at the joint and pulls suction away from the fabric surface it is supposed to be lifting dust from.
