Part 509 is a 45 degree wye, the three-way PVC fitting MD supplies for joining a branch line into a main central vacuum run.

A wye brings the branch in at a shallow 45 degrees instead of a square tee, so air and debris turn into the main line rather than meeting it head on. MD gives two cautions with this fitting: make sure the airflow is adequate for the branch being added, and do not install the wye backwards. The branch leg has to point the way the air travels, toward the power unit.
