A small gray black cap finishes the latch release on SEBO's AUTOMATIC X7 and X8 uprights, and 51059GS is that cap on its own. It closes over the release mechanism and gives your thumb a clean surface to work against.
Caps take the pressure of every opening, so they craze, wear thin at the contact face, or eventually spring out and get lost behind the furniture. The latch still functions without one, but the action feels vague, the exposed release is unpleasant to press, and the mechanism underneath is left open to the dust that circulates around a bag compartment. A fresh cap puts the definite feel back and costs a fraction of the assembly it protects.

Together the two make up the catch that holds the front cover shut, so if the release itself has gone stiff or slack there is little point in fitting a new cap alone. The panel they hold closed is the front cover, ordered by finish: 51051WESB white, 51051GSSB graphite, 51051CISB pastel blue, 51051CMSB pastel mint, 51051CZSB pastel pink, 51051SWSB black and 51051DBSB dark blue. The bag housing locking catch on the other side of the joint is 51003SB. Searching by the SEBO latch release cover part number rather than by description saves a lot of guesswork here, since several small gray black mouldings look alike in a photograph.
