Latch and gasket arrive as one assembly under 6036DG: the C-series cover release in dark gray, with its seal already fitted.
The release holds the compartment cover down; the seal makes that closure airtight once it is down. Both do their work on every bag change, so they age at the same pace and tend to give up in company — a catch that no longer pulls the cover tight, alongside rubber that has gone hard and stayed compressed. The result is a lid sitting a fraction proud and letting air into the machine at a point where the bag should be doing the filtering, which shows up as reduced draw at the nozzle and sometimes as dust on the outside of the housing. Selling the two as one piece means a new latch always closes onto new sealing material instead of onto whatever is left of the old.
