Doorframes, baseboards and chair legs take their toll, and on the 370 uprights it is the trim strip down the side of the bag compartment that absorbs all of it. Part 1804HG is the light gray bumper that replaces it once the original has gone hard, torn away from its channel or disappeared altogether.
Beyond the cosmetics, the bumper is what stands between the housing shell and every hard surface the machine meets. Once it stops covering the leading edge, the plastic behind it scuffs, then chips, and that damage cannot be undone — a housing is a far more expensive thing to put right than the strip protecting it.
