Air slipping in around the release button on a C-series canister usually traces back to one small item: the foam pad tucked behind the button. Part 6128 is that pad, a compressible foam seal that fills the space between button and housing, shutting out the stray air that would otherwise find its way in there.
Foam takes a permanent set after enough years of pressing, and once flattened it no longer bridges the gap it was cut for. Fitting a fresh one is a couple of minutes' work with the cover off, and it gives the button back the tight, springy bed it was designed to sit on.

The button itself is the other half of the job. If the pad has collapsed there is a fair chance the plastic stem above it has been working just as long, and 6083DG renews it in the matching dark gray. Doing both gives a positive press rather than a vague one, and neither part needs the machine stripped further than the cover.
Small as it is, the pad is one of the few items in a C-series canister that can be renewed without disturbing anything electrical or mechanical. Peel the flattened remains away, clean the recess back to bare plastic, and press the new foam in square so it is not proud at one edge.
