This genuine OEM Kirby rear motor bearing quiets and smooths the motor across early Kirby uprights. It supports the rear of the armature shaft on models from the 505 through the Classic series.
A worn bearing produces loud grinding or squealing and, left alone, can damage the armature and motor housing. Replacing it restores smooth, quiet running and protects the surrounding motor parts. Catching a noisy bearing early is far cheaper than replacing an armature damaged by running it too long.
