Returns & Exchanges

Return eligibility

Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.

Order code 5491SE is the top shell of the AUTOMATIC X1 power head, produced in gray black for the white-bodied machine. It is the moulding enclosing the belt, the drive and the wiring inside the head.

Shells of this kind break through impact rather than wearing out. A corner lets go after a solid knock against a skirting board, or a mounting tab shears and the cover no longer draws down tight at that point. Neither sounds urgent until you consider what the shell keeps outside: the inside of a power head holds precisely the grit, hair and fine dust the vacuum has been collecting, and an opening lets all of that reach the belt and the drive components.

A sound shell closes the head properly and gives the fixings solid plastic to pull against. With the head apart anyway, look over the brush strip and the belt at the same time — both are in plain view at that moment and neither is easy to inspect once the cover is back on.
