The rear axle numbered #65 is a replacement part that carries the rear wheels on the vacuum base. It spans the back of the housing and gives the wheels a straight shaft to turn on as the machine rolls.
A bent or worn rear axle makes the wheels drag, sit unevenly, or wobble, which throws the base out of level and makes the vacuum harder to push. A straight replacement axle returns the wheels to true alignment for smooth, stable rolling across the floor.
