The phrase that trips people up when ordering is without exhaust filter cover. What that means in practice is straightforward: the shell has the aperture for the exhaust filter cover moulded into it, but the cover itself is a separate item with its own part number and does not arrive in the box. Most people simply unclip the one from their old shell and carry it across, which is fine as long as it is undamaged. If it is not, the pastel blue exhaust filter cover for this machine is 52029CIU, and the filter that sits behind it is 52039RV.
As for the shell itself, it goes on for two reasons. Either the original has cracked or lost a retaining clip after a knock, or an earlier repair left a mismatched colour on an otherwise tidy machine. Either way this is the outer moulding only, so the internals stay put and the work comes down to unclipping the old shell and seating the new one squarely so that every clip engages.
Take the chance to look underneath while the shell is off, since this is the only time the top of the head is open. Clear any hair that has migrated past the roller ends, check that the belt is sitting centrally on its pulleys, and confirm nothing has been chafing against the inside of the old cover — a rub mark on the moulding usually means something below it has moved. Unplug the machine before starting, and keep the fixings together, as they do not arrive with the new shell.
