A short-spigot 90-degree elbow combines a sharp direction change with a compact spigot end, built for tight spaces where a standard-length elbow will not fit between two fixed points, such as close behind a wall inlet or tucked against a joist. Part 765507W is sized for standard 2-inch central vacuum pipe.
The tradeoff with any 90-degree turn is airflow resistance: a sharp bend slows the air carrying debris more than a swept or angled fitting would, so a 90 is the fitting of last resort on a long run, used where the layout genuinely leaves no room for a gentler curve. The short-spigot version exists specifically for the spots where even a standard 90-degree elbow's body length would not clear the obstruction, at a wall inlet stub-out or a joist bay too shallow for a full-size fitting.
Because the spigot end is shorter than a standard fitting, it also has less surface area for the cement bond, so clean, well-scored pipe ends matter even more here than on a full-length fitting. Deburr and clean both mating surfaces before applying cement. Any burr or dust left on the pipe end reduces the contact area on a joint that was already working with less of it.
