Build date decides this one. Part 05095S is the Ametek Brush M carbon set for the 2241UE brush motor, the unit SEBO fitted from 2001 onward, and it is not interchangeable with the set that suits the earlier motor.
The brush motor drives the roller rather than the suction fan, which is why worn carbons here produce such a specific complaint: a brush roll that turns slowly, stalls in deep pile or stops altogether while suction carries on exactly as it always did. Owners often describe it as the machine no longer picking up on carpet even though it still sounds strong, and that split between drive and airflow is the clue. Inside the motor, the two carbon blocks ride on the commutator under spring pressure and wear shorter every hour it runs, until the contact goes intermittent and the arcing starts to eat the copper.
As with any brush change, fit both blocks together rather than replacing the shorter one, and clear the carbon dust out of the holder before the new set goes in. Dust that is left behind is conductive and is what tracks across the commutator once the motor warms up.
Read the label on the motor before ordering rather than the age of the machine. A motor swapped at some point in the past is the usual reason the wrong set turns up on the bench, and the two options are not close enough to make do with. SEBO carried both variants of this motor for long enough that machines of similar appearance can take either set. Fits the SEBO ELECTRONIC 370 and the ET-C power head.
